A Word from Natasha

I am very happy to say that the start to the new year in our new spaces has been a smooth transition.

On the first day I shared some key messages with the students about what it means to be a Rototuna Senior High School student, and I think it is important that I also share these key points with you, our parent community.

The three main messages I discussed were:

1. A new place, a new start

The school reflects maturity, we are a Senior High School and we expect that with guidance our students will be able to ensure that the spaces and each other are treated with respect.

2. High expectations

I clearly outlined that our school expectations are relevant for all - staff and students, it is important to role model and demonstrate what we expect in ourselves and in others. We will be revisiting the CLOAK values to ensure that these are continued in our senior setting. We believe in realising our potential; we don't have many walls, so why would we put more up. Therefore, it is important to set goals and work in steps to attain them.

3. Adding value

At the Rototuna High Schools we aim to add value for every student. We want both personal and academic success for our students. We will focus on developing and monitoring academic achievement and our values based curriculum for each student.

Our students are very aware of the standards that we have set at school to provide them with the best learning opportunities. I believe when we all work together as a community that supports and guides our young people, we will achieve great things. I look forward to watching our students grow and achieve great things over the next few years.

Our Staff

A blessing for the new Senior High School building was held on Wednesday 1st December and it was lovely for both the Senior High staff and the Junior High staff to have an opportunity to walk through the new spaces for the first time.

Learning - Subject Choices

Students have now been given their timetables.  If any students have questions or concerns about the subjects that have been confirmed on their timetable they can email Megan and arrange a time to come and talk through the options.

Community Information

On Wednesday 22nd of February the Senior High students will have their ID photo’s taken.  Students will have a new Senior High School ID card to distinguish them from the Junior School.

On Friday 24th of February we will be holding our Athletics Day.  More information will be given to students on events they can enter, through their Kaiarahi (Advisors).

Swimming sports will be held on Wednesday 1st March between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. Information for this will also be given to students through their Kaiarahi.  

Students have been in their whanau groups this week getting to know their Kaiarahi and other members of their whānau.

"Te Karere"

"Te Karere" is the new system for notices and important links. Students used a similar system at RJHS with the “Cloakroom”. Students need to bookmark this link via the button below.
